After the Lynx let one slip away in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s game in Washington D.C., they’re back in action tonight against the Atlanta Dream. This is the last game of Minnesota’s three-game road trip before they return home for a Friday tilt against the Mercury.

This is the first time the Lynx will face Renee Montgomery since she left the Lynx in free agency to join the Dream. Montgomery played a key role in the Lynx’s 2015 and 2017 championship runs, but signed with the Dream during the offseason.

Montgomery has not shot the ball particularly well so far this season, but is still averaging 9.7 points per game in 24.9 minutes. She is shooting 32.1-percent from the field and 33.3-percent from three. Every player wants to come out and play well against their former team, so expect Montgomery to come out shooting tonight.

In their matchup against the Mystics, the Lynx were outrebounded for the first time this season. In their previous three games, Minnesota dominated the boards and allowed very few second-chance points, but the team gave up 14 offensive rebounds in Washington. To beat the Dream, the Lynx need to get back to cleaning the glass.

To do so, the Lynx will need to focus their efforts on containing Jessica Breland and Elizabeth Williams—excellent rebounders in the frontcourt—but they can’t afford to lose track of Angel McCoughtry, a 6-1 guard/forward who has a real nose for boards. Minnesota will need to be especially diligent if Sylvia Fowles is less than 100 percent after tweaking her ankle on Sunday.

After struggling to get stops against the Mystics, the Lynx bench will need to be at their best to go up against the talented second-year guard Brittney Sykes. Sykes does not start for the Dream, but so far ranks third on the team in scoring, with 10.7 points per game.

Tonight’s game against the Dream will stream on Twitter, part of a new deal between the WNBA and Twitter to stream 20 regular-season games on the social media platform. The Lynx will play two more games streaming on Twitter after this one.
