Lynx Dominate Wings From Start To Finish

The Minnesota Lynx jumped out to a 31-21 lead against the Dallas Wings and didn’t look back on Wednesday afternoon at the Xcel Energy Center, winning 100-74.

Center Sylvia Fowles led the Lynx with 24 points and 12 rebounds. Maya Moore nearly had a double-double herself, finishing with 23 points and nine rebounds. Rebekkah Brunson had 12 points and six rebounds. Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen combined for 14 points and 13 assists.

Sklyar Diggins-Smith led the Wings with 23 points and nine assists. Glory Johnson added 16 points and eight rebounds. Allisha Gray scored 13.

With the win, the Lynx jumped out to a 16-2 record before the All-Star Break, first in the league. The Wings fell to 10-12, good for seventh place.

Highlight Of The Game

With 2:30 left in the fourth quarter, Lynx rookie Alexis Jones hit a trick shot as the shot clock expired to give the Lynx a demanding 98-71 lead.

The Numbers Game 

  • The Lynx uncharacteristically turned the ball over 17 times.
  • Minnesota was hot from deep, shooting 8-for-16. Moore and Brunson combined for five of those.
  • Jones got some run off the bench, playing five minutes while scoring seven points.

Player Of The Game

Fowles was nearly perfect on Wednesday afternoon, finishing with a game-high 24 points to go with 12 rebounds, one assist and a block. The All-Star shot 10-for-11 from the field and 4-for-7 from the free-throw line.
