The Minnesota Lynx hosted their third annual Tip-A-Lynx event last Wednesday. The event was hosted by The Loop at West End and sponsored by Coors Light.
Lynx players and coaches waited on fans’ tables and poured them drinks to raise money for the Minnesota Lynx Fastbreak Foundation.
There was also an auction for fans to win great prizes like being a Lynx assistant coach for a day, and of course, all money went to a great cause.
Fans like Cindy Smith, who won the assistant coach for a day prize, enjoy such events because of the interaction that fans can have with players.
“Just seeing the players in person and chatting with everyone briefly,” Smith said. “I usually get something at the auction and it goes for a good cause so I enjoy every bit of it.
Other fans like Kurt Schwedler like these events for the autographs most fans can get, as well as the great atmosphere the event offers.
“I think it’s a great event. We’ve been to events at Target Center but never to an off-site event and we’re excited about it and it’s a lot of fun. The players are friendly and it’s just a different atmosphere so it really is nice to get up-close.”
Going in to the night, Schwedler had received autographs on his hat by every Lynx player since they won the championship in 2013, but he was still missing the signature of head coach Cheryl Reeve. By the end of the night, Reeve had given him her autograph and his hat became complete.
