Lynx Activate Forward Jessica Shepard
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – Minnesota Lynx Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve today announced the team has activated forward Jessica Shepard and in subsequent moves, terminated the replacement contracts of guard Layshia Clarendon and forward Cierra Burdick. Shepard will be listed as questionable ahead of Wednesday’s game against Atlanta.
Shepard, in her second WNBA season, is averaging 2.3 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists in seven games played this season. The 6-4 forward missed Minnesota’s last five games due to a right mild adductor strain. Shepard was selected by Minnesota in the second round (16th overall) of the 2019 WNBA Draft.
Clarendon, an eight-year veteran, started the last seven contests for Minnesota and held averages of 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 0.5 steals in the eight games they appeared in. Clarendon joined the Lynx on May 30 after playing in one game for New York this season.
Burdick, signed by the Lynx on June 15, appeared in three outings with Minnesota this season. In her Lynx debut, the 6-2 forward registered six points, shooting 2-of-3 from both the field and the free-throw line.
