Katie Smith Is A 2018 Hall Of Fame Finalist

The Basketball Hall of Fame announced Saturday that former Lynx star Katie Smith has been named a 2018 Hall of Fame Finalist.

Smith was named to the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame last week.

You could say it’s been a good week or two for the current head coach of the New York Liberty.

Smith spent her first six-plus seasons with the Lynx, making five All-Star games. Her best season came in 2001 when she averaged 23.1 points per game while starting all 32 games. All four of her All-WNBA appearances came with the Lynx.

Over her 15-year career, Smith averaging 13.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game while shooting 40.4 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from the 3-point line and 85.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Class of 2018 will be announced March 31 at the men’s NCAA basketball Final Four in San Antonio. This year’s enshrinement at the Naismith Hall in Springfield, Mass., is set for Sept. 2.
