MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx announced forward Jessica Shepard underwent surgery to reconstruct a torn ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in her right knee. The surgery was performed at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota by Lynx Head Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Nancy Cummings.
The injury occurred during the fourth quarter of the June 8 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks. A timeline for her return to activity will be established at a later date and further updates will be provided when appropriate.
In her first WNBA season out of the University of Notre Dame, Shepard appeared in six games for the Lynx, averaging 4.8 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.5 assists in 18.7 minutes per contest.
Minnesota’s next game is Saturday, June 22 vs. the New York Liberty at Target Center, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m. CDT. The game can be seen on Fox Sports North and NBA TV and heard on BOB 106.1 FM.
