Fowles Earns Fifth All-Star Appearance

The league’s most consistent post player over the years will appear in another All-Star game.

Sylvia Fowles, who is the only player in the WNBA averaging double-digits in rebounds this season, was announced as an All-Star on Tuesday evening. It will be her fifth appearance.

Fowles is the only player to average a double-double on the season, scoring 16.7 points per game to go with a career-high 11.9 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. She’s shooting 58.6 percent from the field.

On May 23 against the Wings, Fowles finished with 23 points, 20 rebounds and five steals. She became the first player in franchise history to have a 20-20 game and the first player in league history with 20 points, 20 rebounds and five steals in a game.

Fowles previously made the All-Star team in 2009, 2011, 2013 and 2017. In 2009, she became the third WNBA player to dunk in an All-Star Game while scoring 17 points for the Eastern Conference.

In 2013, Fowles finished with six points and four rebounds.  In last year’s All-Star Game in Seattle, Fowles finished with eight points and five rebounds.

While the All-Stars have been announced, we don’t know what team Fowles will be on. The draft results between the two captains will be released Thursday on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. We’ll update you accordingly.

The All-Star Game will be held on July 28, 2018 at Target Center for the first time in league history. Tickets are available here.
