MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The WNBA today announced that Lynx forwards Napheesa Collier and Alanna Smith have been named to the WNBA All-Defensive First Team. This marks Collier’s second career All-Defensive First Team selection (2024) and the first for Smith. They become the first pair of teammates in franchise history to earn All-Defensive First Team honors in the same season.

Collier appeared in 33 games this season (all starts), averaging a career-high 22.9 points per game while shooting 53.1% from the floor, 40.3% from three and 90.6% from the free-throw line, becoming the first player to do so in WNBA history while averaging 20+ points per game. The Jefferson City, Mo. native posted 7.3 rebounds, 1.6 steals and 1.5 blocks per game, finishing second in scoring, third in steals and fifth in blocks per game in the WNBA. The three-time 2025 WNBA Western Conference Player of the Month (May, June, July) totaled eight games with at least three blocks, ranking fifth in the league in total blocked shots this season (50). Collier surpassed 50 career double-doubles this season after recording five consecutive such performances from May 23-June 8. The 2025 WNBA All-Star captain tied the league record for most steals in a quarter (five) while also becoming the 11th player in WNBA history, and first Lynx player, to collect at least 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and five steals in a game on May 27 against Seattle.

Smith, the 2025 WNBA Co-Defensive Player of the Year, averaged 9.6 points on a career-best 48.5% shooting from the floor, 5.1 rebounds, 2.9 assists, a career-high 1.9 blocks and 1.3 steals in 26.3 minutes per contest. She finished third in the WNBA in blocks per game and total blocks (80), setting a single-season franchise record while becoming just the eighth player in league history to record 80 or more blocks in a season. Smith registered at least three blocks in 11 games and recorded at least one block in 38 of her 42 appearances (all starts). The Hobart, Australia native scored a career-high 26 points and added six blocks on June 24 against Washington, becoming the 12th player in WNBA history to post at least 25 points and six blocks in a game.
