The Lynx Artist Series continues on Thursday, Sept. 24 for Fan Appreciation Night when the Lynx host the Indiana Fever. This time, the series features a design from Minneapolis-based multidisciplinary artist and Lynx Season Member Brit Sigh.

Sigh’s work spans painting, illustration and graphic design, often blending everyday life with imagination, fantasy and futurism. Much of his work centers on Black youth, using original characters and stories to explore imagination, representation and possibility.

For his Lynx Artist Series t-shirt, Sigh puts Prowl at the center of the action, spinning a basketball on one finger alongside hand-drawn “Minnesota Lynx” lettering and a North Star detail.

We asked Sigh to walk us through the design and what it means to finally create something for a team he’s spent the past three seasons supporting as a Member.

A Long-Time Goal

Sigh had been looking for a way to create something for the Lynx since his first season as a Member. Three seasons later, that long-time goal has become part of the Lynx Artist Series.

Sigh: “The first year I had season tickets, I was like, ‘How do I get their attention so I can design something for the team?’ I’ve been going to games wearing stuff that I design and talking to people, trying to get in someone’s ear to let me design something.”

Starting With Prowl

Looking for something that could connect with Lynx fans of all ages, Sigh found his inspiration in a familiar face: Prowl.

Sigh: “I was like, ‘What do we all love?’ I feel like we all love Prowl. Prowl is such a fun mascot. I thought having Prowl’s hand on the basketball would be a fun thing that everyone would be like, ‘Oh, we’ve got to get this shirt.’”

Drawing It By Hand

Sigh freehanded the “Minnesota Lynx” lettering around the basketball, incorporating a technique that regularly appears throughout his paintings and illustrations.

Sigh: “The lettering was actually my favorite part of the design. I do that a lot in some of my paintings and illustration work. I’ll throw in some lettering somewhere. I literally was just like, ‘All right, let me just start freehanding something,’ and that’s what I came up with.”

Beyond Fan Appreciation Night

After spending three seasons coming to Lynx games as a Member, Sigh is looking forward to seeing his work become part of the fan experience itself.

Sigh: "It'd be so cool to come to a game next season and there'll be people wearing my shirt still. That would be dope."
