Another Season, Another All-Star Game For Maya Moore

Making history, or rather re-writing it, is something that’s been common for Maya Moore throughout her career.

On Tuesday evening, it was announced that Moore will be making her sixth All-Star appearance, she has made it every season of her career besides 2012 and 2016, when there was no All-Star game due to the Olympics. Six All-Star appearances at 29 years old. That’s pretty remarkable.

That is tied for seventh in league history. The WNBA record for All-Star appearances is 11 held by Sue Bird.

Moore is averaging 18 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game this season.

Her best game of the season came in a win over Seattle on June 26. Moore finished 32 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal. She shot 12-for-21 from the field, 4-for-6 from the 3-point line and 4-for-4 from the free-throw line.

She’ll hope to continue her All-Star success. She’s won the last two All-Star MVP awards, becoming the second player in league history to win back-to-back All-Star Game MVPs. If she wins again this year, in front of her home crowd at Target Center, Moore will be the first player to win three-straight MVPs and she’ll join Lisa Leslie as the only players to win three total.

Joining Moore on her home floor for the All-Star Game will be Lynx teammates Seimone Augustus and Sylvia Fowles.

The teams will be unveiled on Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN 2. On Friday July 27th, during a one-hour special from the All-Star host reception in Minneapolis, ESPN 2 will unveil the starting lineups.

The All-Star Game will be held on July 28, 2018 at Target Center for the first time in league history. Tickets are available here.
