All-Star Memories | Maya Moore Wins All-Star Game MVP (Again)

Maya Moore has already made five All-Star games throughout her seven-year career.

Why didn’t she make the two others? Because there was no All-Star game in 2012 or 2016 due to the Summer Olympics.

And Moore, who pretty much wins at everything, played very well among the league’s best players.

In 2015, Moore won the All-Star Game MVP, leading the West to a 117-112 win with 30 points, six rebounds and five assists while shooting a scorching 10-for-16 from the field, 6-for-10 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line.

Two years later, Moore was back up to her old tricks in Seattle.

Moore finished with game-high 23 points, three rebounds and three assists in the West’s 130-121 win in Seattle. She was again named MVP and became the first back-to-back winner of the award since Swin Cash, who took home MVP honors in 2009 and 2011. The only other player to do so was Lisa Leslie in 2001 and 2002.

Moore finished with nine points in the first quarter, two in the second, six in the third and six in the fourth.

“We had fun, that’s the point of the day,” Moore said. “It was a really fun group. We played together before, most of us. We showed it today.”

Moore had some friends with her at the game with Sylvia Fowles, Seimone Augustus and Rebekkah Brunson representing the Lynx. Brunson finished with 12 points and three rebounds, Fowles finished with eight points and five rebounds, and Augustus finished with four points and two steals.

“I really feel like a kid again. I get a chance to hangout with some of our vets . . . It just really makes me feel so blessed to have them and have their experience,” Moore said.

Moore hopes to represent Minnesota once again in 2018, this time in Minneapolis.

The All-Star Game will be held on July 28, 2018 at Target Center for the first time in league history. Tickets are available here.
