Top 20 Players | #19 – Nicky Anosike

The Lynx selected Nicky Anosike with 16th overall pick of the 2008 WNBA draft. She started all her games in three seasons with the Lynx before being traded to the Washington Mystics before the 2012 season.

Anosike was known for her elite defense and rebounding. The 6-3 forward had her best season with the Lynx in 2009, when she averaged 13.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.7 steals per game. She was named to the All-Star Game that season.

In her five-year WNBA career, Anosike averaged 8.9 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.

Anosike grew up in Staten Island, where she was a WBCA All-American with St. Peter’s High School for Girls. Anosike was recruited by the legendary coach Pat Summitt and went on the play for Summitt at Tennessee. Anosike won back-to-back National Championships with Tennessee in 2007 and 2008, and remained close with her college coach until Summitt’s death in 2016. Anosike was also the NCAA Woman of the Year in 2008.

Anosike last played in the WNBA in 2012 for the Los Angeles Sparks.
