Practice Report | May 29, 2015

It’s hard to believe that the Minnesota Lynx play their first regular season game in one week (at home against the Tulsa Shock).

That also means that Training Camp is winding down. The Lynx will play their second and last preseason game on Monday at home against the New York Liberty.

There is still plenty to accomplish before then. Head coach Cheryl Reeve needs to trim down her roster. The team is still examining the film from Wednesday’s preseason loss on the road against the Washington Mystics. But mostly, it’s for this team to get on the same page before the regular season starts. With the “Big Four” returning to the starting lineup, there is some continuity there, but there are additions such as Asjha Jones and rookie Reshanda Gray who are learning on the run.

“Just to be poised and do better than we did against Washington,” Gray said on what the team needs to improve on. “Keep moving forward and taking what we learned from film and rolling it over to the court.”

The hope is that Jones and Gray can help shore up the frontline for the Lynx.

Gray will be going against her former Cal teammate, guard Brittany Boyd, on Monday against the Liberty. Boyd was a first-round pick.

“Boyd is a great guard,” Gray said. “You can’t let her get to the basket… She’s just a great guard.”
