MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx will celebrate the team’s annual PRIDE Night, presented by Xcel Energy, on Saturday, June 17, at Xcel Energy Center. Tip-off against the Connecticut Sun is set for 7 p.m.
The annual PRIDE Night will kick-off with the first 2,500 fans through the doors receiving PRIDE themed thundersticks. Throughout the game, various individuals and organizations will be honored for their work on behalf of the LGBTQ community nationally and in the Twin Cities. There will also be a postgame celebration with Rebekkah Brunson.
As part of the Minnesota Lynx Inspiring Women Platform, presented by Land O’Lakes, the Lynx will honor Monica Meyer, Executive Director of Outfront Minnesota during the second timeout of the second quarter. Outfront Minnesota is an organization that works towards LGBTQ equality in the Twin Cities. Meyer has been involved in policy advocacy on behalf of progress causes since 1992 and helped create the Minnesota Safe Schools for All Coalition.
The team will also recognize the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) as the non-profit organization of the game. The Human Rights Campaign is the largest national LGBTQ civil rights organization.
There will be postgame festivities in the Michelob Golden Light Fan Zone, which will include an appearance by Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson and entertainment by local DJ, DJ Chrystal Mann. Any fan with a ticket to Saturday night’s game will be able to attend the postgame event.
