Lynx Take Season Series Over Liberty With A Convincing Win, 88-70

The Lynx were firing on all cylinders on Friday evening as they dominated the Liberty from the opening tip and earned the victory, 88-70.

In a crucial game that represented the season tiebreaker, Minnesota did a tremendous job controlling New York’s talented forward Tina Charles and defending the deep ball, forcing the Liberty to go 2-for-9 from downtown.

Back from injury, Seimone Augustus lit up the Target Center and led the Lynx with 20 points on 9-for-13 shooting, seven rebounds and four assists in only 23 minutes of playing time.

Maya Moore notched 15 points, four boards, three assists and two steals, while veteran Janel McCarville provided a nice spark off the bench with 10 points (5-for-7 shooting) and a rebound/steal in only 15 minutes of action.

Numbers game:

8: The Lynx did an excellent all night long spreading the ball around the floor and tallied 22 assists in the game, which ended up being this many more than their opposition.

6: Minnesota didn’t turn the ball over once in the first half and only coughed the ball up this many times in the second half. The Lynx forced New York to turn the ball over 13 times and turned those into 15 points.

2: The last time the Liberty were in the Target Center they hit 8 shots from beyond-the-arc. This game was a different story, however, as Minnesota buckled down defensively and only allowed the Eastern Conference foe to hit this many 3’s.
