Lynx Sign Center Porsha Roberts

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has signed center Porsha Roberts. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

A 6-2 center from Waco, Texas, Roberts played college ball at Stephen F. Austin University. After four years with the Ladyjacks, Roberts ranked sixth all-time in school history with 1,915 points and 1,007 rebounds, and finished as the all-time leading shot-blocker with 246 career rejections. She was signed to San Antonio Stars training camp roster last season as an undrafted free agent and was waived on June 2, 2015.

Over her college career, Roberts averaged 14.6 points and 7.7 rebounds in 131 career games. In 31 games her senior season, Roberts averaged a career-high 17.8 points and 9.3 rebounds while shooting 63.2% from the field, which was the second-best shooting percentage in the nation at the time.

Roberts was named the 2015 Southland Conference Player of the Year after leading the Ladyjacks to a second consecutive SLC regular season title and a third postseason appearance in four years. She was also named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Year for the second consecutive season in 2015 after leading the league in blocked shots and rebounds.
