Lynx Set Franchise Record With Final Regular Season Win Over Atlanta

Minnesota won their 28th game of the season on Saturday evening against the Atlanta Dream, marking the first time in franchise history that the Lynx have finished the regular season with 28 wins.

The defending WNBA Champions were able to secure their record-breaking win thanks to unbelievable performances from Sylvia Fowles and Maya Moore.

The two Olympians combined for 51 points, 10 boards, nine assists, four steals and three blocks.

Minnesota gave veteran forward Rebekkah Brunson the night off, so it was Natasha Howard who started in her place and the Lynx newcomer performed well, tallying 11 points, nine rebounds and two assists. Seimone Augustus also played well and notched a game-high 17 plus/minus rating to go along with 10 points, six rebounds, two dimes, three steals and a block.

The now 17-17 Dream got solid performances from Angel McCoughtry, Elizabeth Williams and Tiffany Hayes, who combined for 48 points, 16 rebounds, nine assists, two steals and three blocks. The visiting team also had some solid contributors off of the bench. Reshanda Gray and Bria Holmes teamed up to put in 29 points.

Numbers Game:

28: Congratulations to the Minnesota Lynx on winning this many games in the regular season. Setting a new franchise record for wins is something to be truly proud of!

33: Atlanta played aggressively all game, maybe a little too aggressively, committing this many fouls throughout the contest and sending Minnesota to the line 33 times.

24: Despite not having their usual starting lineup in the game, Minnesota moved the basketball efficiently all game and tallied this many assists throughout the matchup.
