Lynx Playoff Watch Viewing Guide | Tuesday, August 14

The Lynx have a very important game against the Chicago Sky today as they look to get back in the win column, but there are two other games being played in the WNBA tonight, both of could have an impact on where the Lynx sit in the standings when they wake up Wednesday morning.

Here’s your cheering guide:

Wings at Sun, 6 p.m., Twitter

The Sun are one game ahead of the Lynx in fourth place, while the Wings are three games behind the Lynx in eighth. If the Lynx take care of business tonight it will become mathematically impossible for them to fall into the No. 8 seed. However, if they win, and Connecticut loses, Minnesota is suddenly in a far better position to potentially move up.

The Wings have struggled lately and parted ways with head coach Fred Williams after the team’s loss in D.C. on Sunday. Lynx fans should be hoping the Wings get it together and beat the Sun. If you’re going to pick a day to root for a rival team this isn’t a bad one—former Lynx player Taj McWilliams-Franklin will be on the sidelines for the Wings in her head-coaching debut!

Liberty at Sparks, 9:30 p.m., NBATV

If you need a reason to root against the Sparks, try this on for size: they’re standing in the way of the Lynx earning home-court advantage in a potential single-elimination playoff game.

The Sparks are tied with the Sun a game ahead of the Lynx. They currently hold the No. 5 seed. Unfortunately, the Liberty have been playing some of their worst ball of the season as of late—they’ve lost nine in the row.

With Tina Charles on the squad, the Liberty have a chance to win every night, but to get a win on the road in L.A. they’ll really need to buckle down. Lynx fans should be hoping the Liberty can pull themselves together and get the victory.
