Lynx Playoff Watch Viewing Guide | Friday, August 10

The Lynx are in the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season, the longest active streak in the WNBA. However, even with their postseason berth secure, Minnesota can’t afford to relax. Though they’ll definitely be in the playoffs, the Lynx’s seeding is anything but set.

Of course, winning is the most important thing, but it never hurts to get a little help, and tonight could be big. With two teams that won’t be making the playoffs playing two teams fighting for position with the Lynx, Minnesota could move up tonight without even playing a game. Here’s your cheering guide:

Sun at Sky, 8 p.m., League Pass

The Sky have not had the season they hoped for. While they’re not technically eliminated from playoff contention, it would take a miracle for them to make the postseason.

That doesn’t mean they’re not talented, though. Allie Quigley can shoot the lights out, and Courtney Vandersloot is undoubtedly one of the best point guards in the WNBA.

Playing one of their last home games of the season, the Sky will be motivated to come out and put on a show for their home crowd. Lynx fans should be hoping they succeed. The Sun are a half-game ahead of the Lynx for the No. 5 seed.

The Sun won’t be an easy out. They’re obviously motivated to keep fighting for playoff seeding, and they have won five games in a row. Fingers crossed that Chicago can pull off the upset.

Fever at Mercury, 9 p.m., NBATV

Similar situation with this one. The Fever have the worst record in the WNBA, and have long been eliminated from playoff contention. At this point, they’re playing for pride.

Lynx fans should hope they’re feeling very prideful tonight.

If Phoenix takes care of business they’d have the same number of wins (17) as the Lynx and the Sun. In such a tight race, it would be great to have a little more of cushion. While obviously the goal is to have as high a seed as possible, they Lynx will particularly want to avoid falling into one of the bottom two seeds, which would entail a single elimination road game.

While the Lynx would certainly be confident in their ability to win on the road, it would be a lot more fun to have that game at home.

Lynx fans should be hoping the Fever find a way to defeat Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and the Mercury tonight.
