Lynx Forward Maya Moore Named Western Conference Player of the Week

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The WNBA today named Minnesota Lynx forward Maya Moore the Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, July 13 through Sunday, July 19. The Player of the Week award is Moore’s second of the season and the 12th of her career.

Moore led all WNBA scorers for the week with 29.0 points per game, and ranked fourth in rebounding with 8.0 rebounds per game and third in assists with 4.7 assists per game. Moore led all scorers with 26 points in the July 14 win at Connecticut and tallied a then-season-high 29 points as the Lynx defeated the Chicago Sky on July 17. Moore established a new season scoring best with 32 points, including at franchise-record 30 in the second half, in the July 19 comeback win at Tulsa, leading the Lynx to a 79-72 victory. She added 10 rebounds, a game-high five assists and two steals in the same contest, becoming the just the 10th player in WNBA history to collect 30+ points, 10+ rebounds and 5+ assists in a single game

The victory at Tulsa marked Moore’s 25th career point/rebound double-double (fourth this season) and the 15th time she’s tallied 30+ points (her first this season). She has now scored 20+ points in each of her past seven games, tying her club record in the category and giving her nine this season (61st career). Moore currently ranks third in the league in scoring with 20.4 points per game, 10th in rebounding with 7.3 per game, seventh in assists with 3.6 per game and third in steals with 2.0 per game.

New York’s Tina Charles was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week.
