Lynx Close Out Preseason With Win Over Mystics

The Lynx closed out preseason on a high note, beating the Washington Mystics 74-59. The difference was the second and third quarters when the Lynx outscored the Mystics 49-23.

Rebekkah Brunson led the way for the Lynx, finishing with 14 points and seven rebounds. Sylvia Fowles and Natasha Howard added 11 points each and combined for 11 rebounds.

Tianna Hawkins led Washington with 14 points and seven rebounds. Natasha Cloud added 11.

Minnesota ended preseason with a 2-0 record. It now has six days before the season opener on Mother’s Day.

The Numbers Game

  • It was a sloppy game as the two teams combined for 36 turnovers.
  • Minnesota played great defense, forcing Washington to shooting just 37.7 percent from the field.
  • The Lynx outrebounded the Mystics 35-27.

Player Of The Game

Brunson played just 17 minutes, but made the most of it, finishing with 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and two steals. She shot an efficient 5-for-7 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free-throw line. She was a +13 on the night.
