Lynx Acquire Draft Rights to Forward Chantel Osahor

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL – The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has acquired the draft rights to forward Chantel Osahor from Chicago in exchange for forward Keisha Hampton.

Osahor, originally drafted by the Chicago Sky with the 21st overall pick in the 2017 WNBA Draft, comes to the Lynx from the University of Washington. She led the nation in rebounds per game (15.8) and double-doubles (30), pulling down double-digit rebounds in 31 games. She registered 20 or more in eight contests, including a Pac-12 record 30 against Washington State.

The Phoenix, Ariz. native became Washington’s all-time leading rebounder this season with 1,253 in her career. With 519 boards this season, she tied the Pac-12 record for most rebounds in a season.

The 6-2 forward was Washington’s second leading scorer this season, averaging 15.8 points per game and second in assists (140). Osahor was just the second player in program history to reach 1,000 point and 1,000 rebounds. She ended her collegiate career averaging 8.9 points, 9.8 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game on 46.5% percent shooting.

Hampton was originally drafted by Seattle in the second round (22nd overall) of the 2012 WNBA Draft before the Lynx signed her as an unrestricted free agent prior to the 2016 season. With the Lynx, Hampton played in 27 games off the bench, averaging 2.6 points, 0.4 rebounds in 6.8 minutes per game, shooting 33.3% from the field.
