Lindsay Whalen Inducted Into Minnesota High School Basketball Hall of Fame

At halftime of Monday’s Timberwolves game, the first-ever class of Minnesota’s High School Basketball Hall of Fame was honored at Target Center.

Among the inductees was Lynx star Lindsay Whalen—one of the most successful athletes to come out of the state.

Whalen is a true Minnesota athlete. While her fans may now rightfully associate her with the team’s championship teams, Whalen has been playing winning basketball in the state almost her entire life.

Whalen attended Hutchinson High School, about 50 miles west of Minneapolis, where she scored 1,996 points over the course of her career and added 21 triple doubles.

Whalen has stayed true to her Minnesota through the rest of her athletic career. She played college ball at the University of Minnesota, leading the team to the 2004 Final Four. While Whalen began her WNBA career with Connecticut Sun, she left her biggest legacy in Minnesota, leading the Lynx to four championships (so far), over the course of her last eight years with the team.

Whalen has long been synonymous with excellence in Minnesota athletics, and now she has a spot in the hall of fame to prove it.
