In today’s Flashback Friday, we take a look back at Renee Montgomery’s first season with the Minnesota Lynx.
Montgomery, who finished her third season with Minnesota in the 2016 season, has played for the Lynx in two different stints throughout her WNBA career.
Coming out of the University of Connecticut, where she played four years of college basketball, Montgomery was selected by the Lynx with the fourth overall pick in the 2009 WNBA Draft.
In her rookie season, Montgomery averaged nine points, 2.1 assists, 1.9 rebounds and 0.7 steals in 34 games, while shooting 40.8 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from three and 83.3 percent from the free-throw line.
After her rookie season, Montgomery was traded to the Connecticut Sun, where she spent the next five seasons. After beginning the 2015 season with the Seattle Storm, Montgomery was traded to Minnesota to return to the Lynx.
In her second stint with Minnesota, Montgomery has averaged 6.6 points, 2.7 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 53 games with the Lynx, spanning over two seasons.
Montgomery will begin her ninth WNBA season with the 2017 kicks off in May. The Lynx open up the 2017 season against the Chicago Sky at 6 p.m. May 14 at Xcel Energy Center.
