Today, which in case you haven’t heard is Flashback Friday, we go back to Aug. 4, 2013 and a winning streak that is still the longest in Minnesota Lynx history.

On this day in 2013, the Lynx beat the Seattle Storm 90-72 to extend their home winning streak to 18 games in a row, which is still a franchise record.

In that game, Lindsay Whalen led Minnesota with 22 points, seven assist and five rebounds. Seimone Augustus had 18 points and six rebounds, Maya Moore had 16 points and four rebounds, Rebekkah Brunson had 12 points, 11 rebounds and four assists and Janel McCarville and Amber Harris each added six points.

The winning streak stretched over two WNBA regular seasons, beginning in July 12, 2012 and finishing on Aug. 4, 2013.

The second-longest home winning streak is 13 games (July 2, 2016 to May 28, 2017), with the third being 11 games (June 20, 2014 to Aug. 7, 2014) and fourth being nine games (Sept. 8, 2011 to June 27, 2012 and July 16, 2011 to Aug. 30, 2011).

With Thursday night’s Lynx win over the Atlanta Dream, Minnesota extended its home winning streak to eight straight games at Xcel Energy Center this season. The current winning streak began on May 14 when the Lynx beat the Chicago Sky in St. Paul.

Minnesota looks to try and extend that home winning streak to nine games on Aug. 11 when they host the Los Angeles Sparks at Xcel Energy Center. That game will also be the game where the Lynx are going to be unveiling a new logo for the first time in team history.

You’re going to want to be there.
