In today’s Flashback Friday, we go back to this summer’s Rio Olympics and the women’s basketball tournament.

Before she rejoined the Minnesota Lynx for the 2016 WNBA season, Anna Cruz represented Spain at the 2016 Rio Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Spain reached the Gold Medal Game where Cruz and the Spanish national team fell to Maya Moore, Lindsay Whalen, Sylvia Fowles, Seimone Augustus, Cheryl Reeve and the United States to take second place and go home with a silver medal.

Spain finished with a tournament record of 6-2 overall, falling to the United States (8-0) in both of their matchups.

Cruz appeared and started in all eight games for Spain in the tournament. She concluded with 8.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 26.9 minutes per game. She also shot 36 percent from the field and 64 percent from the free throw line.

Next week, we will take a look at Lynx center Sylvia Fowles beginning with a Roster Review on Fowles on Monday.
