Augustus Makes Franchise-Leading Eighth All-Star Team

It just wouldn’t feel right to have a WNBA All-Star game without Seimone Augustus.

With her inclusion on the 2018 team, Augustus has made eight All-Star teams, a Minnesota Lynx franchise high. She played in the 2006 and 2007 games, and every game between 2011 and 2017 (there was no All-Star game in 2012 or 2016 due to the Olympics).

Augustus has fared well in her All-Star appearances. In 2006, she led all scorers with 16 points, and won the skills competition as well. The Lynx guard is known for her flashy crossovers and sweet shooting, and the All-Star game is a great venue in which to show off her skills.

This year, Augustus has started in 21 games for the Lynx and is averaging 10.3 points per game on 47.4 percent shooting. Her best game of the season came in a win against New York early in the season when she dropped 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting.

Augustus’ steady veteran presence has been a key for the Lynx this year. The longest-tenured member of Minnesota’s core, she is in her 13th season suiting up for the Lynx. Augustus has long been a fan favorite, and played an absolutely critical role in all four of the Lynx’s championships.

We’ll find out which team Augustus will be playing with when it’s announced on Thursday, and the starting lineups will be revealed on Friday, July 27.

The All-Star Game will be held on July 28, 2018 at Target Center for the first time in league history. Tickets are available here.
