The Minnesota Lynx kick off the second half of the regular season when they host the New York Liberty on Tuesday in St. Paul.

The Lynx come in at 16-2 overall and are sitting atop the WNBA standings. The Liberty enter at 10-9 on the season and are in sixth place.

Here are a few tidbits as we enter Tuesday night’s game:

  • Minnesota currently has won three straight games coming into Tuesday, while New York holds a two-game winning streak.
  • The Lynx come into the game with a three-game lead over the Los Angeles Sparks (14-6) for first place in the WNBA standings.
  • The game will feature the two WNBA Players of the Week in Minnesota’s Sylvia Fowles and New York’s Tina Charles.

Coming Off Of…

Minnesota is coming off of a 100-74 win over the Dallas Wings last Wednesday in St. Paul.

Fowles had 24 points and 12 rebounds and Maya Moore had 23 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lynx. Rebekkah Brunson had 12 points and six rebounds, Seimone Augustus, Lindsay Whalen, Renee Montgomery and Alexis Jones each had seven points and Plenette Pierson added six points.

New York is coming off of a 96-80 win over the Connecticut Sun last Wednesday in New York.

Charles had 28 points and 17 rebounds to lead the Liberty. Shavonte Zellous had 16 points, six assists and five rebounds, Bria Hartley had 10 points, Epiphanny Prince had nine points and Sugar Rodgers and Kiah Stokes head added eight points off the bench.

Last Matchup

Minnesota holds a 1-0 season series advantage over New York, with the first matchup coming on May 18 at Madison Square Garden, with Minnesota winning 90-71.

In that game, Moore had 16 points, 11 rebounds and six assists, Fowles and Whalen had 12 points each, Brunson and Augustus had 11 points each and Montgomery and Natasha Howard each had seven points off the bench.

For the Liberty, Rodgers had 20 points and seven rebounds to lead the way. Brittany Boyd had 16 points and four rebounds, Tina Charles had six points and seven rebounds and Kia Vaughn had seven points off the bench.

Key Matchup: Sylvia Fowles vs. Kia Vaughn 

One matchup to keep an eye on Tuesday night comes between Minnesota’s Sylvia Fowles and New York’s Kia Vaughn.

Fowles, who earned her fourth Player of the Week honor this season on Monday, is averaging 20.1 points (ranks 4th in WNBA), 9.8 rebounds (3rd in WNBA), 1.7 blocks (4th in WNBA), 1.6 assists and 1.4 steals (10th in WNBA) per game this season.

Vaughn is averaging 6.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 0.7 assists a game so far in 2017.

Injuries

New York: Brittany Boyd (Achilles), Shoni Schimmel (personal) and Tanisha Wright (personal) are out.

Minnesota: No injuries to report.
