The Minnesota Lynx look to stay undefeated on the season when they host the San Antonio Stars on Sunday at Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul.
The Lynx come into the game at 5-0 overall, sitting in first place in the Western Conference. The Stars enter at 0-4 overall are in sixth place in the Western Conference.
Here are a few tidbits entering Sunday’s game:
- Minnesota has won 22 straight games in the month of May, dating back to 2012.
- The Lynx are averaging 82.2 points per game this year, which is third-best in the WNBA. Minnesota has given up 73 points per game, which is fourth-best in the league.
- Sylvia Fowles, who has been stellar so far for Minnesota, has led her team in scoring in four out of five games this season.
Coming Off Of…
Minnesota is coming off of an 82-68 win over the Connecticut Sun on Friday in Connecticut.
Fowles had 20 points and nine rebounds to lead the Lynx. Rebekkah Brunson had 11 points and eight rebounds, Renee Montgomery had 11 points and four assists, Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus had nine points each and Maya Moore added seven points and 11 rebounds.
San Antonio is coming off of a 94-82 loss to the Dallas Wings on Thursday in San Antonio.
Kayla McBride had 18 points and two steals to lead the way for the Stars. Isabelle Harrison had 16 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks, Monique Currie had 11 points and eight rebounds, Erika de Souza had 10 points and five rebounds and Moriah Jefferson had nine points and four steals.
The Lynx held a 3-0 season series advantage over the Stars last season. The last matchup between the two teams came on Sept. 11 in San Antonio, where Minnesota won 81-76.
In that game, Augustus had 20 points and four rebounds for the Lynx. Moore had 17 points, 10 rebounds and six assists, Brunson had eight points and 11 rebounds and Natasha Howard and Montgomery had six points each.
Moriah Jefferson had 26 points and eight assists for the Stars. Currie had 18 points, Astou Ndour had 14 points and eight rebounds and Sydney Colson added six points off the bench.
Key Matchup: Sylvia Fowles vs. Isabelle Harrison
One matchup to watch in Sunday’s game will come in the paint between Minnesota’s Sylvia Fowles and San Antonio’s Isabelle Harrison.
Fowles has continued her hot start to the 2017 season, averaging 21.2 points (tied for 3rd in WNBA), 10.4 rebounds (2nd in WNBA), 2.2 steals and 2.2 blocks per game this season.
In four games, Harrison has averaged 13.3 points, 5.3 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game.
