INJURY UPDATE: Minnesota Lynx Guard Candice Wiggins and Forward Charde Houston Listed as Day-to-Day

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL The Minnesota Lynx announced today that guard Candice Wiggins and forward Charde Houston will miss tonight's game against the San Antonio Silver Stars, scheduled for 7 p.m. at Target Center, after both suffered injuries in Thursday night's game against the Indiana Fever in Indianapolis.

Wiggins, the No. 3 overall selection in the 2008 WNBA Draft out of Stanford, suffered a lower-back contusion with 3:19 remaining in the first quarter of Minnesota's 84-80 overtime victory over the Fever. Wiggins, who is second in the WNBA among all rookies in scoring with 16.4 points per game, failed to score and collected one rebound in 1:29 of action before the injury. An examination at Conseco Fieldhouse revealed the injury and a CT scan performed at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis confirmed the diagnosis. Wiggins has already started rehabilitation and is listed as day-to-day. Houston, the 30th overall selection in the 2008 WNBA Draft out of the University of Connecticut, suffered a left knee bone contusion when she collided with Tan White with 51 seconds remaining in overtime. Houston, who is sixth in the WNBA among all rookies in scoring with 7.5 points per game, collected 11 points and five rebounds in 25 minutes of action before suffering the injury. A Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) test performed by team physicians Friday morning in Bloomington, Minn., confirmed the diagnosis and revealed no injury to the knee ligaments. Houston has already started rehabilitation and is listed as day-to-day.
