Smith Becomes First WNBA Player to Reach 300 Three-Pointers

June 10, 2003 � In Tuesday night's game at Los Angeles, Lynx guard Katie Smith became the first WNBA player to register 300 three-point field goals in her career. Smith, who finished 2-for-3 from beyond the three-point arc, reached the milestone with a three-pointer with 3:41 remaining in the first half.

Smith, who has a total of 301 three-point field goals in 131 WNBA games, has recorded 484 three-pointers in her professional career. She connected on 183 three-point field goals in two-plus seasons with the Columbus Quest of the American Basketball League (1996-97 through 1998-99). In 2000, Smith set the WNBA single-season three-point field goal record with 88.

The 5-11 guard from Ohio State is the all-time leader in points scored in the history of women's professional basketball (ABL/WNBA) with 3,775 points.
