Lindsey Moore, PG

Age: 22

Years Pro: R

College: Nebraska

After Moore was drafted in the first round of the 2013 WNBA Draft, there were instant comparisons to Lindsay Whalen.

While they share the same first name (kind of), Moore has plenty of work to do before she gets to Whalens level, but last season was a great learning experience for the former Cornhusker.

Moore didnt get a whole lot of playing time, instead she took mental notes throughout the season and picked at the brain of Whalen throughout the season, trying to learn anything she could.

At practices, Moore would sit and chat with coach Cheryl Reeve almost every day trying to figure out the offense, but at the same time, figure out how she can fit in best with this team.

This offseason Moore will have to work on her 3-point shooting percentage, although last seasons numbers might not be fair to judge simply because it was such a small sample size.

The way Moore plays is similar to Whalens in the way that she has great vision on the court. Sometimes, though (like most rookies), she gets ahead of herself and tries to force passes.

Next season, the Lynx will look for Moore to take the next step in her development and while everything depends on roster moves, expect Moore to get more of a workload at the point guard position.

Regular Season Stats:

23 games, 5.7 minutes per game, 1.0 points per game, 1.0 assists per game, 0.6 rebounds per game, 25.8 FG %, 25% 3-point %

Playoff Stats:

6 games, 6.2 minutes per game, 0.3 points per game, 1.2 assists per game, 0.3 rebounds per game, 16.7 FG %

Best Game:

In an 85-84 loss to the Los Angeles Sparks on Sept. 12, Moore played 17 minutes and filled her stat line pretty nicely. She finished with five points, three assists, three rebounds and a steal. She also made the only 3-pointer she attempted. All of those marks set or tied career highs for the rookie.

Offseason Plans:

Moore is currently playing for Carispezia Virtus La Spezia in Italy. In two games, shes played 27.5 minutes per contest and is averaging 13 points per game, to go along with 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 steals. Shes shooting 39.1 percent from the field, 50 percent from the 3-point line and 87.5 percent from the free-throw line.

They Said It:

I honestly see my role as being a backup for Lindsay Whalen. I can learn so much from her. Its truly going to be an honor playing with her. The biggest compliment you can receive as a point guard is you make the people around you better and she does that day in and day out. Lindsey Moore after being drafted by the Minnesota Lynx with the No. 12 pick in last seasons WNBA Draft.
